Our faculty members, trained in both dance and education, are devoted to their students.  They join our director and founder in their dedication to making each dance year a happy and productive experience.  Although each brings a personal spark of enthusiasm and talent to our studios, we all work together as a team, developing a curriculum that provides growth and excitement.  

HERE'S OUR DANCE MAGIC FACULTY!

ê SUSAN ANANIA HUNTER has an excellent ability to work with children and outstanding education credentials.  A graduate of the Betty Hill Studios and Saint Mary’s of Notre Dame, Susie is a master teacher and mentor.  She also teaches reading in the Des Moines Schools.

ê MELRITA MULLER HAMILTON, a veteran of our faculty, teaches and choreographs lyrical and pointe at our Windsor Studio.  A student of Rose Lorenz and Betty Hill, Melrita brings grace, technique, and the beauty of movement to our studios, and is a valuable asset.

ê CHRISTINE HARRIS GIBLIN is a professional educator, graduating from the University of Iowa, as well as a well-rounded dancer and performer.  Christy’s range of expertise includes all forms of dance, as well as baton.  Christy, a Betty Hill graduate, teaches juniors.

ê GIGI OERTER, former Ballet Mistress of the Des Moines Ballet Company, teaches classical ballet.  Gigi has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ballet from the North Carolina School of Arts.  We are honored to have Gigi sharing her extensive professional background and expertise.

ê KATHY DAUGHENBAUGH NARAYAN, a Betty Hill graduate, is a veteran member of our faculty.  Kathy excelled in all dance forms, was captain of her high-school gymnastics team, a competitive baton twirler and performed at the State Fair Bill Riley Talent Search!

ê KAREN MURANO SISSEL, a Betty Hill graduate, teaches and choreographs for senior students.  With a college degree in theatre and education,  Karen brings the expertise of the dramatic arts to our students.  A dynamic performer, Karen also teaches middle school.

ê MICHELLE HARRIS PECINOVSKY brings her talent in competitive gymnastics and acrobatics to our students, as well as her experience as a Betty Hill Dancer.  Michelle teaches several levels of acrobatics at our Windsor studio this year, as well as our junior partners.

ê SHARI BERGMAN, a Betty Hill graduate, teaches lyrical, jazz, private lessons, and many advanced students.  Her technical
expertise and classical training make a valuable contribution to our students, and her creative and artistic ability are an asset to us.

ê LINDSEY CRAWFORD MOTSENBOCKER, a Betty Hill graduate, teaches Dance Team, private lessons, acrobatics, jazz, and older students.  A competition dancer in high school, Lindsey is a University of Northern Iowa graduate and teaches at Hillside Elementary School in West Des Moines.

êMELISSA SHORT, a Betty Hill graduate, was on high school dance team, and graduated from Iowa State University in psychology.    Melissa toured the Midwest with Universal Dance Association training high school and college squads.  She teaches at WDM.

ê ALICE HOFFMEISTER, a graduate in education from Drake University, grew up dancing in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.  Alice is a Super Camp Leader in the summer and teaches junior high science classes in West Des Moines.  Alice has been with us for five years and teaches at WDM.

ê JAYME AMMANN is a Betty Hill graduate now attending Grandview College.  A member of her high school and college dance teams and show choir, Jayme won first place in the collegiate dance regional solo competition.  Jayme teaches private lessons at the WDM studio.

êLYNDSAY GOLD is a Betty Hill graduate, having spent many years in training as a student leader.  She teaches children’s combination classes, jazz, and hip-hop at our SDM studios.  Lyndsay has taught at our studios for several years, including children's combination, jazz, Dance Camp, and Iowa State Fair performances. 

êVICKI WILLIAMS,  returns to our studios to teach Juniors and Seniors at WDM and adults at Windsor.  A graduate from our studios, Vicki has a degree in music education, owned her own studio in Kansas City, and teaches both vocal and instrumental music.

êNICOLE WELLS, a Betty Hill graduate, attends Grandview College and is on the Grandview Dance Team.  Nicole teaches children’s combination and jazz classes at our Windsor Studio and is majoring in health promotions.

êJENNA KOLLINGS, a Betty Hill graduate, graduated from the University of Iowa where she was a member of the well-respected Iowa Dance Team.  Jenna excels at all dance styles and her creativity and skill are an asset to our older students and private lesson dancers.  We are glad she is back!

êABBIE DUIS, a Betty Hill graduate, attends Drake University and is on the Drake Dance Team.  Abbie excelled on her Lincoln Drill Team and in the Drum Line of the Lincoln Band.  An excellent academic student, Abbie teaches at our Windsor and South Studios.

êKARA STURM comes to us from St. Louis, now a student at Drake University.  An education major, Kara has become one of our Dance Magic Family!  Kara teaches at South Des Moines and West Des Moines.  She loves kids and loves to dance, and we love having her with us!

êKIM THOMAS, a Betty Hill graduate, attends Iowa State University and is on the Iowa State Dance Team, winners at the collegiate level at the Drill Team Competition of Iowa.  A diverse and dedicated dancer, Kim is a master of all dance styles and has become a valuable assistant in all areas of our studios.  Kim teaches Dance Camp, State Fair, Dance Team, Summer Jazz Max and Tumbling, and Christmas Show.  We love her!

 

We are also thrilled to have former dancers and teachers who return to help us with our June performance and special events, including ê JASON CARPP (Citizen Schools National Teaching Fellowship) ê NICOLE DIXON MCBRIDE (University of North Carolina Wilmington) êROBBIE ROBINSON (Denver Schools).
